EYE LASER TREATMENT FOR RETINAL PROBLEMS

Laser treatment is a common procedure to treat diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, and other retinal diseases. The laser is applied to the back of the eye where it causes pigment behind the retina to absorb the energy, creating heat. This heat burns the overlying retina to eventually cause scarring, which permanently pins the retina down to the back wall of the eye, or to reduce the amount of diseased retina causing diabetic eye disease or other retinal conditions.
